Privacy Policy
Effective May 20, 2026
RadarCast is built by RadarCast LLC (Charleston, South Carolina, USA). This policy explains what the RadarCast iOS app and radarcast.app website collect, use, and share.
No accounts, no tracking
RadarCast does not require an account. We do not collect names, email addresses, contacts, or advertising identifiers. We do not sell data to anyone, ever, and we do not use analytics data to track you across apps or websites.
Location
If you grant the app location permission, your device's GPS coordinates are used on your phone to center the radar map on your location and show alerts relevant to your area. Coordinates are not shared with third parties.
Unless you enable severe-weather notifications, your coordinates stay on your device. See Severe-weather notifications below for how alert locations are handled when notifications are on.
Severe-weather notifications
When you enable severe-weather notifications, RadarCast sends your device's push token and the alert locations you choose, such as Current Location or Home, to our backend so we can match active watches and warnings to your device. Coordinates are rounded before storage and are used only to deliver severe-weather notifications. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or use it to track you across apps or websites.
You can turn severe-weather notifications off at any time from the app's Settings screen or from iOS notification settings. When notification types are disabled in RadarCast, we stop using those event types to send severe-weather notifications to your device.
Weather data requests
The app fetches weather data (radar, lightning, forecasts, alerts, satellite imagery) from public government sources — NOAA, NWS, SPC, WPC — via RadarCast infrastructure hosted on Cloudflare and AWS. These requests carry no user identifier. We do not log request contents or associate requests with individuals.
Map rendering (Mapbox)
Map tiles are provided by Mapbox, Inc. Mapbox may process your device's IP address to serve tiles, subject to their privacy policy. RadarCast does not share additional information with Mapbox.
Crash and diagnostic reports
If you opt in to share anonymous diagnostics with Apple, Apple may share crash logs with us via App Store Connect. These reports contain no personal information and are used only to fix bugs.
Children
RadarCast is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted with a new effective date. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
